Anastasia Shesterinina

Professor Anastasia Shesterinina is Chair in Comparative Politics in the Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of York and Founding Director of the Centre for the Comparative Study of Civil War. She leads the Civil War Paths project, a 7-year UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship "Understanding Civil War from Pre- to Post-War Stages: A Comparative Approach." Her Cornell University Press book Mobilizing in Uncertainty: Collective Identities and War in Abkhazia was awarded the 2022 Charles Taylor Book Award of the American Political Science Association (co-winner) and the 2022 Davis Center Book Prize of the Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies. She has published in American Political Science ReviewJournal of Peace ResearchEuropean Journal of International Relations, and Review of International Studies, among other journals.
