April Biccum’s research is framed by Global Knowledge Politics with a combined focus on how the concepts empire/imperialism and Global Citizenship are used, theorised and understood in both the public and scholarly domain. Recent work on empire theorising in the Social Sciences has appeared in Interventions (2018) and Australian Journal of Politics and History (2023). Recent work on Global Citizenship has appeared in Globalisation, Societies and Education (2024) and Australian Journal of Political Science (2024). Forthcoming work detailing the colonial origins of Global Citizenship will appear in the Yearbook of Development History. April is co-convener of the Interpretation Method Critique Network at the Australian National University and the newly founded Interpretive Methods Research Group at the Australian Political Studies Association and newly appointed member of the executive committee of the Interpretive Methodologies and Methods associated group of the American Political Science Association.
