Lisel Hintz
Lisel Hintz is Assistant Professor of International Relations at Johns Hopkins University–SAIS. Spanning IR and comparative politics, her research examines how contestation over various identities shapes politics at multiple levels in Turkey and its various neighborhoods. With an increasing focus on multi-modal research that audio-visualizes the political science toolkit, her work is published in journals including Democratization, Security Studies, European Journal of International Relations, PS: Political Science and Politics, British Journal of Middle Eastern Studies, and Nationalities Papers. Her first book, Identity Politics Inside Out, was published by Oxford University Press in 2018. She has separate book projects under contract with OUP (populist grand strategy) and Cambridge University Press (pop culture as political battleground). For 127 weeks and counting, she has run a post-disaster writing solidarity group for PhD students and scholars from, and working, on the Middle East. Contact her for details.
