Robin A. Harper is a Professor of Political Science at York College and CUNY Graduate Center (MA Program in International Migration Studies and the MA/Ph.D. Program in Political Science, where she also serves as MA Advisor). She engages interpretive methods to explore comparative public policy and the meanings of citizenship, belonging, and borders. She finds herself increasingly fascinated by social alienation, political disruption and the policy potentials for repair. Current research projects explore how temporary labor migrants contend with mass expulsions, extreme violence and public health emergencies, and also how state policy develops antidotes to radicalization connected to social alienation.

She serves on international advisory boards for EU-funded international migration projects concerning borders, immigrant incorporation, radicalization/deradicalization, and the Routledge Series on Interpretive Methods. She chairs the IPSA Methods Café and Co-Chair the US-based WPSA Methods Café.

Her work has been published in Central and Eastern European Migration Review, Diversities, Journal of Immigrant and Refugee Studies, Migration and Development, Social Identities, Space and Polity, Teaching Public Administration, Time & Society, among other places. She also writes on the pedagogy of career-connected learning and the scholarship of teaching and learning in the social sciences.
